Editorial Standards
How we report layoff news and maintain the WARN database.
Sources
- Primary sources first: state WARN registries, company statements, regulatory filings, and court records.
- News reports are secondary. When an article relies on a single report, it names the outlet.
- Anonymous forum posts are never presented as confirmed fact. If a round is known only from unverified posts, the article says so.
Numbers
- Worker counts come from the official notice. We do not invent breakdowns by country, site, or job function when the source does not give them.
- Estimates are labelled as estimates, with the arithmetic shown.
- A cost-savings target or restructuring percentage is never reported as a headcount cut.
AI use
Drafts are prepared with AI assistance. The editor reviews and approves every article before publication, and every factual claim is checked against its source. AI output is never cited as a source.
